Police apprehended a Lower East Side man accused of attempting to lure a 12-year-old girl off an East Village street last month.
Chris Ambrose, 41, of Cherry Street was booked Saturday on a charge of acting in a manner injurious to a child under 17.
Law enforcement sources said the child endangerment incident occurred at 7:49 a.m. on March 16 in the vicinity of East 5th Street and Avenue C.
Police said the 12-year-old girl was walking through the area when Ambrose allegedly approached and asked her to accompany him to another location.
A good Samaritan on the scene then intervened, prompting the suspect to take off on foot in an unknown direction.
The incident was reported to the 9th Precinct. The girl was not injured.
