A variety show with an emphasis on diversity is coming to Hell’s Kitchen this weekend.
On Sunday, Feb. 27, Impulse Group NYC and drag artist Robyn Banks will present the first Black & Boujee variety show. Hosted by Banks and Lola Michele-Kiki, the show will take place at Hush, located at 348 West 52nd Street, at 7 p.m.
“I have always been very vocal about getting more POC into different bars and lounges,” said Banks, Impulse Group NYC’s Event Director. “I am the kind of person that likes to do more action than complaining. I believe the change has to start somewhere…there is so much POC talent in New York, and I wanted to showcase as much of it as I could.”
The show will feature 18 performances from drag stars, burlesque performers, poets, dancers, live vocalists, and more. The event aims to lift up performers of color as well as trans and non-binary artists while celebrating Black History Month. Some notable performers to keep an eye out for during the event include Zelina Duval, Detoxx Busti-AE, Myster E Mel Kiki, Dey Phoenix, Bianca Dagga, and Senerio.
Impulse Group NYC is a part of Impulse Group United, a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to building a stronger and healthier community for the LGBTQIA+ community. Impulse NYC recently hosted The Glam Awards where it introduced two new awards: The Marsha P Johnson Award, which was presented to Brita Filter, and The Advocacy Event of the Year Award, which went to to Bob the Drag Queen and Peppermint.
The event is free to the public.
