Man sought for stealing cellphone in Midtown subway station and stabbing woman who tried to stop him

Cops are looking for a thief who whacked a woman’s phone out of her hand and injured another while trying to flee a Midtown subway station.

According to police, at 6 p.m. on April 18 a 33-year-old woman was inside the 34th Street-Herald Square subway station when she was approached by an unknown man. The man proceeded to knock the woman’s phone out of her hand and grabbed it before trying to flee the scene.

Another 27-year-old woman tried to stop the suspect from running, but he stabbed her in the leg with an unknown sharp object, causing a puncture wound. The suspect then successfully fled the scene topside to parts unknown. No injuries have been reported to the victim who lost her phone as a result.

Paramedics took the 27-year-old victim to NYC Health and Hospitals/Bellevue in stable condition.
