SEE IT: The Mexican Day Parade marches through Midtown

Viva Mexico! It was a fiesta in Midtown Manhattan as revelers celebrated the 28th Mexican Day Parade on Sept. 18.

Madison Avenue and 38th Street echoed with the sound of Mariachi music and joyous grito shouts in honor of Mexico’s Independence Day. The parade is one of many events held during Hispanic Heritage Month—Sept. 15 through Oct. 15 since many Latin countries gained their independence during this time.

Hundreds of attendees waved a sea of Mexican flags as others donned all white, woven attire. Some attendees even wore swooping colorful huipil—a sleeveless, colorful dress with various prints (infamously worn by Mexican artist Frida Kahlo.)

Mayor Eric Adams, Commissioner of Immigrant Affairs Manuel Castro, and NYPD First Deputy Commissioner Edward Caban joined the festivities, waving to and greeting spectators.

The parade spanned from 38th Street and Madison Avenue down to 28th Street from 11am to 2pm.
